FEKC Club Championship 2016 Round 3

fusionlogoThe Forest Edge kart circuit located in Hampshire is the home of the Forest Edge Kart Club, at the end of April Kai took part in Round 3 of their club championship.  Forest Edge is a new track to Kai and this year will feature on the LGM calendar so racing there beforehand was on everyone’s list.  With over 250 drivers in over a dozen categories it was easily the largest event of the year for Forest Edge.

Saturday practice went well, Kai quickly got up to speed on the track posting some of the fastest laps of the day.  On Sunday morning he continued this with the third fastest lap in the very brief three lap warm-up session.  However the random grid position heats proved challenging with Kai struggling to hold his place at the starts and get back through the pack.  In heat one he went from 15th to 16th, in heat two from 1st to 10th and finally some relief in heat three from 26th to 13th.  The total of these results put him 15th on the grid for the final.

Final

The final was a completely different story, at the start he lost two places because the outside column got away slightly quicker, so crossed the line in 17th but from there drove hard moved through the field to finish a very respectable 8th.  Thanks as ever to Joe Boullen, Dan Hazlewood, Neil Doran and the rest of the team. Kudos to the organisers who coped amazingly well with the 250+ drivers who took part.
